A story in which I meet a celebrity in line at the Chinese Embassy.
One of my missions in Vietnam is to get my visa for China here.
It will be much less of a headache than getting it at home but the Chinese are strict!
Because of that, I have been at the Chinese Embassy at opening time the last two mornings.
It’s like Breakfast at Tiffany’s only not romantic and you are treated like a naughty child.
The owner of my hostel said that if I want to get my visa, I need to dress up for the embassy. So here I am, in my fabulous backpacker finery.
A gentleman gets in line behind me who is clearly not a backpacker and probably staying somewhere with an iron because his khakis aren’t wrinkled.
Interested to meet someone who may speak English but isn’t a backpacker, I start a conversation. We start talking about our plans for China and as it turns out, he was a singer and going there for work.
A singer who is kind of a big deal.
Here is one of his music videos.
