Camel Toes | A Map to Anywhere

Camel Toes are Tough

As I was riding a camel in Morocco, it occurred to me that camel toes have gotten a bit of bad publicity.

Camel toe is a slur used to call out fashion malfunctions, an insult hurled by middle-schoolers, and an all-around undesirable attribute.

But maybe this is kind of unfair, camel toes are really tough.

I mean, in the movie Weather Man, a little girl was being called camel toe at school. Her take on it was that this is actually a compliment.

"Why do the kids call you camel toe?"

"Because camel toes are tough, they can walk all over the desert and all the hot rocks. I'm tough."

Literal Camel Toes

So as the unappreciated camel and his camel toes were hauling me and my compatriots around the desert for a show-me trip, I realized I had no idea what an actual camel's toes look like.

At the next stop I got off and took a photo. The camel did not seem to mind.

So there you have it, the source of all that negativity. A camel's innocent little toes.
